With the Victoria Program you will learn what you need to regain Freedom in your life.

The Victoria Program is a private residential center for the treatment of addictions, founded in Spain in 1984 by the clinical psychologist Bernardo Ruiz Victoria (Registered psychologist no. AO-02556).

Over four decades, he has treated more than 1,000 patients with problems related to alcohol, cocaine, and other addictive behaviors.

The center's format is designed for people who cannot spend months in a clinic or conventional detox center: executives, managers, professionals, artists, freelancers, and business owners with active family and work responsibilities. The program consists of a ten-day residential therapeutic retreat, followed by a minimum of one year of individual, family, and group support.

The facility operates within a select spa hotel in the Marbella area (Málaga), in a non-urban setting. Groups are always small, with a maximum of eight people per retreat, to ensure privacy and intensive clinical care.

With the Victoria Program you will learn what you need to regain Freedom in your life.

The Victoria Program is a Therapeutic Retreat to overcome addictions founded and developed by the Psychologist Specialized in Clinical Psychology Bernardo Ruiz Victoria .

Based on the most recent advances in the science of addictive behavior, it has been offering excellent therapeutic results since 1984 to people who decide to participate in it, as long as they have a sincere desire to overcome their addiction and learn to live free of alcohol, cocaine or other addictions.

Step-by-step Admission Process

Giving a session
A hotel that inspires peace and serenity

Access to the residential center follows three distinct phases. The pre-retirement phase is designed to ensure that the format is suitable for the specific case.

Phase 1. Reception

It begins with a free 30-minute private video consultation, bookable through the website or via WhatsApp. Following this initial contact, several additional video consultations or in-person sessions are scheduled. Its purpose is:

  • Evaluate the patient's medical, psychological, and social situation.

  • Identify the addictive pattern and possible associated disorders.

  • Working on motivation for change.

  • Confirm that the short residential format is clinically appropriate.

The number of welcome sessions varies depending on the patient and the availability of a place in the next retreat.

Phase 2. Therapeutic Withdrawal

Ten days of intensive residential treatment at the spa hotel, with a highly specialized therapeutic, medical, and psychological team. Groups are limited to a maximum of eight people. During the retreat, the patient is physically removed from their usual environment and participates full-time in the clinical program.

Phase 3. Monitoring

A minimum of one year of structured follow-up after retirement, combining:

  • Individual sessions in person or via video consultation.

  • Family sessions.

  • Group sessions with other former participants.

  • Continuous contact with the clinical team via telephone and messaging.

Follow-up may be extended beyond the first year if the case requires it.

The short format allows patients to return to their professional activities after retirement without interrupting treatment, as follow-up is adapted to video consultation when the patient resides outside of Marbella.

Languages supported

The founder and clinical director, Bernardo Ruiz Victoria, personally attends to patients in two languages:

Clinical Team

Clinical management is in charge of Bernardo Ruiz Victoria, a psychologist specializing in clinical psychology, licensed by the Autonomous University of Madrid, in professional practice since 1984.

He is accompanied by a therapeutic, medical and psychological team that supports the patient during the retreat and in the subsequent follow-up.

The center also maintains outpatient consultations at Clínica del Río and Clínica Premium , both in the province of Málaga, to facilitate access to face-to-face sessions before and after the retreat.

Componentes terapéuticos del retiro

During the ten residential days, the patient works with a structured program that combines the following components:

  • ABC Functional Analysis . Identification of the antecedents, behaviors, and consequences that sustain the addictive pattern.

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy . Restructuring of automatic thoughts associated with consumption.

  • Psychoeducation . Clinical information on addiction as a neurobiological and behavioral process.

  • Planning the New Self . Concrete design of the post-retirement lifestyle.

  • Relaxation with visualization . Stress reduction, anxiety management and consolidation of learning.

  • Relapse prevention . Identifying triggers and training responses.

The full description of the clinical method is on the Our Unique Method page.

Indicative cost and comparison with long-term income

The price of the complete program, which includes the welcome sessions, the ten-day residential retreat at a spa hotel, and one year of follow-up, is around €10,000. The exact figure will be confirmed during the initial free video consultation, as it may vary slightly depending on certain circumstances. It is a fixed price with no surprises.

For reference, the most common price range for private residential addiction treatment in Spain is between €3,000 and €8,000 per month. However, most centers offer stays of several months.

A conventional three-month income can therefore range between €9,000 and €24,000, and a six-month income between €18,000 and €48,000, not including subsequent follow-up, which usually involves an additional cost.

The Victoria Program format compresses the residential phase to ten days and invests the rest of the clinical resources in the follow-up year, which is especially useful when the patient cannot be absent from work for months.

International logistics and customer service outside of Spain

The physical residential center is located in the province of Malaga, Spain, but the program's structure is designed to accommodate international patients and to maintain remote follow-up after retirement:

  • Global video consultation . The entire intake phase and most of the follow-up can be done via video consultation, allowing you to start the process without traveling.

  • Presence in other countries. The Victoria Program is working on expanding to other Spanish-speaking countries.

  • English version of the site . Available in English for English-speaking patients.

  • Travel coordination . The team guides the patient and their family regarding arrival in Malaga, transfers, and pre-retirement stay when necessary.

When this format is not appropriate

The ten-day residential retreat does not replace hospital detoxification or prolonged admission to a dual diagnosis unit when the case requires it. The clinical team may recommend another option if the intake assessment identifies:

  • Need for medical detoxification with hospital supervision.

  • Severe active mental disorder not stabilized.

  • Acute risk of self-harm or suicide.

  • Social situation that prevents compliance with subsequent follow-up.

In these cases, the family is directed to the appropriate resource and, if necessary, follow-up is offered once the situation has stabilized.

How to book an initial consultation

The first step is a free 30-minute private video consultation. There are three options:

WhatsApp

E-mail

All information is treated with professional confidentiality. The initial video consultation does not commit you to starting the program and allows the patient, or their family, to assess whether the short-term residential format is the right option.
